SEE YOU NEXT YEAR !! It's not just a ride It's a challenge to support a Veteran. Be there in October 2017.... Broken Arrow, Oklahoma Challenge yourself!
First I would like to thank you for visiting my website. This event is for my Boy Scout Eagle Project. I wanted to do something that would really impact the community and out nation. I got the inspiration from my dad who is a veteran. He started riding his bicycle with Ride 2 Recovery June on 2015 and before I new it my mom was riding and by August my younger sister and I started riding with the group. I saw a side of my dad that had not ever seen and my mom said, she had her guy back. However on September 15, 2015 my family was hit with devastating new my dad was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. The news hit us all, and unexpected the group of veterans that had become a part of our lives had rallied together and we had a cancer ride for my dad. This was something that I had never seen before I got to see first hand the brother hood veterans have and how much support the have for one another. On Sept 11, 2015 Ride 2 Recovery became Local Chapter Project HERO Oklahoma and there are 2 different groups one the Social Side which my family and I are a part of. The second is Ride 2 Recovery clinic within the VA Hospital in Muskogee. I have had the pleasure of helping the clinic at different times and I saw a need. The clinic is in need of equipment, but worse yet many of the veterans are unable to purchase some the bicycles needed. So I decided to raise money. What better way to raise money then to have a fun bicycle ride. I went to my local bicycle shop Spoke House of Broken Arrow and talk to the owner Zachary Pfaff, before I new it he said that he would partner with me and help me out. I decided to have 3 different routes a 31 mile, 52 mile, and the challenge ride of 91 miles. Why do I call the 91 mile a challenge ride I have invited Veteran riders from Ride 2 Recovery to ride the route and time them. Then anyone who thinks they have skills to beat there times can try. If you beat the times you'll get a certificate. So how much money do I want to raise, my goal is $100,000.00, with the help of sponsors and donations from you my riders. Please help to help a veterans. We loss 22 veterans a day to suicide and this program has saved the lives of many of our countries veterans. Thank you Austen Hufford
